We admit that we are not the most active on social media. However, you can be sure that it is important for us to have our say. We all work on a voluntary basis and concentrate our efforts on active nature conservation. So plant trees where it makes sense and protect forests where they still exist. And today is another one of those days when we have something to announce.
It has now been a year and a half since we set ourselves the task of protecting a particularly beautiful piece of Amazon rainforest, which is presided over by an equally special frog. We can claim that we have not only raised the purchase price and ancillary costs, but have also built up an infrastructure that allows us to buy land in Peru in the first place.
In this particular matter, Tomas is the lawyer working for us in Peru, who heads the subsidiary of the same name “Plant for Future Rostock e.V.” in Peru. Accompanied by Josh, our project manager in Peru, the three approximately 13-hectare plots were finally inspected on Sunday, August 13, 2013, and approved as unchanged. The next day, our representatives met with the sellers in Yurimaguas at the notary’s office. Today, on 15.08.23, all funds have been transferred and the necessary signatures have been obtained. We can proudly say that we have saved 40 hectares of primary rainforest from destruction. We would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to all those actively involved and, of course, to all donors!
However, this is just the beginning. The next steps are the establishment of a ranger station, the employment of rangers, the purchase of an off-road vehicle and, of course, the acquisition of further land. We hope that you will continue to support us and not give up in the face of the ecological crisis!
